LBKA Annual Honey show 2023

LBKA once again held their annual Honey Show at the Lincolnshire Show this year.

We had a reasonably good turnout of volunteers on the show pre-start setup days, and we are very grateful to all that attended and helped over the two days.

The show was well attended, within the region of 58,000 visitors attending the event, it felt like most of them came into the beekeeping tent over the two days! This allowed us to demonstrate and educate them by presenting the art of beekeeping, giving the public the opportunity to see bees inside hives working, how bees and beekeepers produce the honey and other hive products that are available. Andy Curson was also interviewed by Lincs FM

All the classes had good entries with the entries being up on 2022  so once again the show qualified as a BBKA blue ribbon event. It was good to see a few new members enter too.  The two new classes which were added to this year’s schedule, class32 one bottle of other mead, which could be either Metheglin, Melomel, Cyseror Pyment, and an additional class in photography allowing for separate classes for monochrome and colour proved a hit with entries in both classes.

Both the judges were very complementary on the number and standard of entries in the show.

The prize giving was held on the Thursday afternoon.

Congratulations and thanks must also go to Dale in his first year or organising the event and for the rest of the show committee.
